Ask HN: What do you call Holy Grail mania risk?

2•totetsu•35m ago
I am looking at the statements of various governments, making out sized claims or at least claims that are not backed by any rigorous methodology, about the capability of AI and using to convince people to consent to their pre-existing policy or ideological Agendas. Then I am looking through all these taxonomies of AI risk and I can’t find something that fits this exactly. Like it’s not using AI to commit fraud or make disinformation, it’s using the promise of the holy grail and short circuiting peoples reasoning, to trick people. Is there a name for this?
