Cut: Chattanooga Civic User Testing

Having spent 25+ years working on policy with a local government and then 3 years working in that government, this idea excites me. I mean, the idea that the government tests something with actual users or at least potential users. So much better than testing with people somewhere else, where terminology might differ, etc.

It's for this reason that I loathe the use of an app the county sheriff's office wants to use. The community is old and older and young folks leave. The SO will not explain why they chose an app versus something old school like an email list.

Chattanooga also has one of the larger (if not largest) municipal fiber networks in Tennessee, offering service up to 25gbps.

When I lived there it was also super cheap, and kind of everywhere. There was never a problem with the internet speeds, mostly because it's a public service if memory serves.

You very well might have something like this in your local municipality. Here in Oak Park Illinois, where I live, it's the "Civic Information Systems Commission", which I got on by... sending an email. It won't be packaged as clearly as Chattanooga apparently has, but it's the same function.
