I'm translating my current videogame project into Toki Pona! It's delightful fun, but also a bit tricky at times. The tiny vocabulary makes it difficult to come up with unambiguous ways to refer to in-game mechanics. The lack of pronounceable numbers is also a minor pain, but the community seems to mostly be okay with using arabic numerals as an escape valve, and letting the reader choose which pronunciation system they prefer.

do you know toki pona? the sentences i'm getting in this practice thing have basic grammatical errors, as does the title of the site itself; plus, the way you categorize words is just totally wrong (there are 6 preverbs not 2). did you just vibe code out this entire site? also your text-to-speech for the sentences mispronounces everything
bw86•5h ago
I second this. This seems to be a good way to learn wrong things. I recommend https://wasona.com/ as a better alternative.
aap_•5h ago
If Toki Pona has too many words for you, try Tuki Tiki, it only has 39 words.

My only problem is that the main reference book is not public domain but paid.
nim-ka•5h ago
the community actively maintains public domain resources and teaching materials online; the book is way outdated anyway, and is not considered a reference

English: I wonder if there are other people on Hacker News who know toki pona? I myself am still learning it.

I see the author of this site is using the old sitelen (glyphs), as is usual for most in the toki pona community. I don't understand why the new glyphs aren't used more.
