Generally I agree that this article is throwing vague reference at hormonal processes, but on the other hand I do think that American society's allergy to touch, restriction of all physical closeness to mates only is unnatural and contributes to the dehumanizing aspects of capitalism with which it is associated.

and though the provided biology was vague, I do think it's valid that societal tipping points depend on the fact that individual psychobiology does in fact and obviously cause such intense feelings.
