For the curious, he opened up a Google Home Mini Gen 1 and connected the speaker wires within directly to a Rockville 5.25" bookshelf speaker. Then 3D printed a case to mount the Mini to the top along with a handle and some 3M rubberized feet. Not portable as is but would be with a battery pack.

Cool project. The Lenovo/Intel marketing is a little heavy though.

Comparing sound quality by using his mic on the speakers doesn't really work.

I'm surprised the speaker pins are providing enough current to run that passive bookshelf speaker.

Nicely produced video but two things I think make it less great.

1) The sponsorship / advertisement is artificially linked to the content of the video and makes it more like an ad for the computer. It appears like the video is optimized for ad profitability but not necessarily for bringing most value to the DIY project. Sponsorship is fine, but I would prefer it to be separate from the video content.

2) There are some elementary electronic checks missing, eg the impedance of the speakers. If the ohms not match, the amplifier might actually get damaged.
