I have to say that some of my favorite images of our solar system are from the solar observatories. The opening to TFA is an example of why. I love the different views from the use of the different filters. I used to play with the images from SOHO by downloading the image sequence and then rendering the timelapse to a video. It was my first foray into using curl in an automated fashion once I learned their server's structure. Every day, I'd have a new video to see what the sun was up to the day before. I guess because of the activity compared to the other bodies in the solar system, Sol is the only one that gets me attention like that. Earth being second. Even Jupiter's images are lackluster in comparison.
