Yes, there is a perfectly reasonable story about the real Vlad, and you can claim the material used to make his castle is stronger due to materials science. This information is helpful to many.

But I still wonder whether vampires are just mostly benevolent aliens that have integrated into our society, because I like to keep an open mind.
