EVs have their use case but Teslas do seem to be plastic death traps. They are unsafe for the dumbest reasons.

This is why whenever Uber books me with a Tesla, I cancel immediately. I don't want to have to remember how to unlock the door in that particular model of Tesla. It should ideally be a standard and obvious handle mechanism across all cars.
