People think because they work with numbers and they get paid well, or have other high status indicators, they must be intelligent. These people also get certified by failed institutions and hired into giant corporations, getting validated at every step by systems that are telling them "you are the most intelligent, capable, competent people, look at all the signals telling you how adept and skillful you are!"

A whole lot of people aren't being filtered out for the morons they are; our economy, governance, and policies are the result. Welcome to the world; it's being run by idiots. {insert astronauts meme here}
