I don’t know what gets me more the fact this went on for 3 decades before anything happened to stop it or the fact that now discovered and having to deal with this, the government is still trying to sell this as some kind of win instead of admitting systematic failures allowed this to go undetected for decades and doing something about it

It's almost like giving impunity to authority figures is bad.
