Holistic? Mmmm if you are interested in the power dynamics in Sub saharan Africa, I suggest reading Lisa Parks, she did ethnographic research on the dynamics between energy and communication infrastructures in rural communities (mainly Zambia). A bit outdated now, but still very insightful!
