Backstory: I used to really enjoy Twitter and then Elon bought it. It was fun for jokes, news, and learning about real-time events around the world. Over time, I’ve watched the platform spiral into an engagement farm with users trying to cash in on monetization and replies simply being “@grok is this true?”
Reddit - I was a big fan but I feel like downvotes create an echo chamber. Not to mention the power hungry mods, and the company selling all its data to AI just rubbed me the wrong way.
Bluesky — not really a fan either. Just Twitter with a different owner.
Threads - just instagram in a different UI layout.
I created Chrrp as an alternative to them, but without the parts that I thought made them broken. Text-only, no ai, no algorithm, chronological feed, no likes/upvotes/downvotes. Even removed followers because influencer culture burnout is real.
Check it out if it sounds interesting. I appreciate all feedback and questions.
