The Grid Doesn't Need More Power Plants (It Needs This) [video]

“We're running 21st century lives on a mid-20th century grid. But back in 1997, energy consultant Karl Rábago wrote a blueprint for a radically different grid. His model? The internet. Seriously. And no, I'm not talking about today's internet, which is just five billionaires in a trench coat. I'm talking about the '90s internet. Decentralized. Collaborative. And really, really cool. So how would the internet stop a blackout? And why did the guy who figured it out get ignored for 30 years?”

Interesting, but a bit too light.

Decentralised power distribution, inspired by the Internet. Two key people have progressed it.

It appears to be stymied by the power networks, the key piece seems to be a router for electricity.

“In the Volts podcast, Jonas Birgersson explains why today’s power grid is built for yesterday. What is referred to as EnergyNet in the conversation is Project Energisamhället in practice: a digital, local, electricity-first grid designed for electrification.”

Nothing is more concerning than someone who posts several replies to their own thread, but I trust someone else will find this just as interesting.
