I've been long wanting to start building my own businesses, and this is my first true attempt to do so. I've built systems on top of platforms like Airtable and Shopify before, but this is the first time I've attempted to do the thing most people think when they think of SaaS.
Landing site: Astro on Cloudflare Pages
App: React & Cloudflare Workers
Database: Postgres on Railway + Cloudflare Hyperdrive
Misc: Sentry, WorkOS, Paddle, Postmark, Umami, Clarity, Github Actions
This is an extremely cheap setup where I effectively only pay for the domain and the small cost of keeping that Postgres server up. Could've gone for a free service like Neon for my db, but it didn't play well with JDBC in my last project. I enjoy using the Cloudflare stack a lot compared to AWS.
How it differs from other proposal software is the emphasis on design and simplicity. Basically the aim is that you don't need to think about templates, layouts at all. After the discovery call with the client, you can just dump all your thoughts out, let the product take care of this by turning it into a well-reasoned structure that yields an effective proposal that's polished. And once you send it off, you see when it's opened and where the client dwells.
Sample proposal: https://app.proposalkit.io/sample/lumen-studio You can also sign in and play around in the real thing with user hntest@proposalkit.io with pw hntestproposalkit . It's a shared account though, so expect weirdness, especially WorkOS blocking this kind of use - in any case I can always set you up with a clean account.
