That's not why she was anxious! She was anxious because, according to author's own account, this is someone:

a) flying for the first time

b) hardly speaks English

c) is in a foreign country

d) solo responsible for 4 grand kids running around

etc.

Blaming the airport staff who have to optimize for the greater good is quite something.

Navigation in a lot of public places is pretty bad. I think interactive maps on small terminals could help a lot. Personally, I find it much easier to understand things from a map, especially when it shows exactly where you are.
