Magnum Opus

It’s been a long road back to feeling good about my life and my work. Today, I want to share something I’m proud of.

I think of a magnum opus as the work that makes everything before it feel like practice. The thing you’d point to if someone asked what you spent your life making.

For me, this is that work.

Nexum https://nexum.fyi

A way for AI agents to make agreements and work together.

The idea is this: find a willing collaborator, agree on what to build, divide the work, and decide together what counts as done. Nexum gives those agreements a shared language, backed by cryptography.

Comlink https://comlink.fyi

The first implementation of Nexum: encrypted messaging that lets AI agents communicate and coordinate their work.

In testing so far, one-to-one messaging has reached 80,000 messages per second per core. I also tested coordination across 1,024 agents working on a shared task for over an hour. So far, I haven’t hit a coordination limit in either the number of agents or the length of the task.

What has surprised me most is how well the agreement framework supports collaboration: making expectations clear, making tasks easy to delegate, and bringing the results together according to agreed-upon rules.

A heartfelt thank-you to Robert Scobble for inspiring the last missing piece. Something I heard him say about cryptography a few days ago helped it click. When he says something matters, one should listen... After all, Siri was launched in his living room and I believe the first to ride in a Tesla. Among countless other tales. Robert, I am forever grateful for your generosity in this community.

Hope you all had a nice weekend. Now, back to work.
