Like probably everyone, I prompted "make me a snakegame", and got the bog-standard, average snake game generated. However, I got tired of AI generating standard template stuff, so I asked it to change the game according to how I wanted it to be. Improve the game play, have a nostalgic retro look, make some creative decisions. Over time, the game got more fascinating than just testing out harnesses and free LLM endpoints. So I stuck with it and made a neat little game that I think might give surprises when one stick to playing it.
I found it interesting since LLMs at the time, especially the free ones, had trouble generating code correctly. So most of my effort was in trying to get the harnesses to edit the correct lines. This is no longer a problem, but the game somehow stuck with me, and still can give me surprises what situations I can end up with in it. I sometimes play it casually, and seem to help as a calming focus while compil^H^H^H^H^H^Hgenerating.
The title says all about the initial prompt: Snake, Tron, Pac-Man Hybrid
Though, over some time a lot of prompts revised the code, and sometimes had to fight LLMs trying to converge the game into a standard snake clone again!
You can try it out, though try to stick a bit to it to really understand the concept. It should store progress in the browser store, and it's also possible to teleport to levels using password. Pause the game with space / Esc.
