Of course. Think of the chil... no, it's a matter of natio... no. Hrm .. well we have nothing to hide! Same as you, yet you keep your doors locked and bank account hidden!
jameskilton•2h ago
Same thing happened the last time we went through this circus. I'm only surprised it took this long for them to shut off access.
smallmancontrov•2h ago
First you try to record the ICE officers, then the ICE officers pepper spray you, then Alex Pretti steps in, then they tackle him, take his gun, and murder him in cold blood.

Then the feds grab the evidence to make sure the investigation has as little to go on as humanly possible.

Now this.

The information lockdown continues apace.

brewcejener•2h ago
Once IDF and US military are mended maybe we can get these ICE officers properly trained.

Yeah ICE sure does need to learn how to target children for murder

Lets not forget the the FBI recently announced they will no longer investigate any crimes ICE commits.
jb1991•1h ago
That's alright, I've been counting them myself to keep track, since I knew other sources of the data would eventually disappear. So far, eight people have been deported.

imagine what this looks like in three more years by 2029, 1000 more days

they are lying more and more to courts, they immediately move people out of state at great expense to prevent lawyers from access

we only know of the warehouse prisons they gave up on, there are likely many moving forward or already exist in secret buried inside military bases without press or congressional access

if the Dems don't win the Senate the country is done, House is not enough, House will just be a dog-and-pony show since they have no enforcement powers

fellowniusmonk•1h ago
You see this very often, these kinds of things keep escalating and with the destruction of the rule of law and the need to suck up to an executive a country basically becomes a black hole for investors.

Every time the chain of evil is allowed to persist it corrupts a widening tranche of people and the inertia for compromise just increases until sudden system collapse.

It's just normal error propagation in the network. Only taking ethics and morality seriously at the grass roots level can stop this, but people have gone absolutely wacky for ingroup and apocalyptic thinking and the lie "everyones doing this" has been really pushed hard as a thought stopper.

lenerdenator•1h ago
I don't think this will have the effect that the administration thinks it will.

People aren't ignoring all of the things they have been up to. They're keeping track, regardless of the data that the government puts out.

Still, the administration thinks people will just forget. In their minds, it will all simmer down, and since they now control the government, they can avoid consequences from voters and from the courts.

The problem is, history shows that there are worse things for those who abuse human rights than losing elections or facing trial. It would be better for them - and the country - if they kept the data open, disciplined the officers who can't abide by basic professional standards, and re-evaluated their approach.

We’ll see. Depends on the primaries. Institutional dems have a pitiful track record on holding people accountable. I expect we’ll see a lot of reaching across the isle and ‘moving forwards, not dwelling on the past’.
