I took the tour as part of teacher training at San Jose State. Recommended. I taught elsewhere though and never did get to bring a class of kids there. I'd think it would bore the younger ones.
I was most impressed by a big room full of boffins and lots of white boards full of elaborate equations. It perfectly fit my mental model of what scientists do, and much less grody than the bio labs I worked in during college day. Someone in my teaching class asked them to be sure not to blow up the world in a chain reaction, and one of the inhabitants solemnly nodded agreement. So we have that going for us.

Took this tour with my family when I was 11. Quite an awesome learning experience, and put me on the road to understanding nuclear technology.
Highly recommended, especially for younger kids with a thirst for things far beyond them.
