I wish the likes of Inkscape had a SMIL feature (or if I had a magic want I'd revive KDE's Karbon to be able to do this). Doing SMIL animations "by hand" is rather tricky and as far as I know there's no comprehensive tool to do this - i.e. something that fully covers both SVG and SMIL.
