Ask HN: Not sure but maybe that's why we all do coding

1•BlackScythe•35m ago
As a programmer, you must have came across the word AI. (As I'm a new user here, please read it atleast once, as I'll explain an interesting test on myself... The UI hurts, but feels cool though)

It can easily do whatever task you give it, yes, and it's full of errors. But if solved correctly by a person, then bug generally gets fixed.

Though, "I don't wanna explain the time & efforts it takes to fix a single bug"

Then, why do we learn programming? Not CS, but programming (Programming is and essential part of CS).

Well, recently, as a learner of psychology, I conducted a test on myself. And the test was a bit too long, but anyways.

3mo ago, I was a prompt enginneer, who specialized in XML prompts (& completed HTML, CSS, JS, Tailwind).

Then I tried to build a SaaS with AI. And as it included languages I didn't know, I probably just copy-pasted the entire code back & fourth. While I understood nothing.

It gave me: Frustration (for being a perfectionist - Psychologically having high Openness), & making me quit (for having high Neuroticism).

Then I left learning programming as thinking QI could do it... Well it could, and over the months, AI changed drastically.

I lost hope in the field of Programming (not CS). But then 3mo later, I got an idea:

"Why not build tools to help me?", and that idea was wild.

I started Python, and surely people think it's an easy language to pick up. While IRL, it's considered one of the best language for real world building & AI/ML, aside from its simplicity.

And so I treated it as a low level programming language (yes I learned low level controls in Python).

But then, where I got stucked, I asked AI, and even the lowest level models could do it way better than me, without bugs.

I was heavily discouraged, but then I came to the realization, even though AI can make something way broader, and robust than a human(if it has a good user), there's one thing for which the tool made by human... Seems better.

It's that new ideas when people start programming, and instead of following a standard idea where you build a tool, you add something small in the code, that makes a big difference. You add one feature, that the AI cm never. Why? Because all thez can do is copy, or follow blindly what the AI says. Or even if they are creative, they cannot have the cause to build the feature you had when building (Casuality).

That's what I think constantly... And will.. maybe... Because that's what that keeps me going even though I'm late in programming.

So HN seniors & users (for some reasons, everyone here looks seniors with PhD in 5 fields), what's it that keeps you going?

I'm just very very unconfident about my own idea. The test conducted showed me What I without (knowledge) + AI, and I with knowledge (- AI), can do. But I'm still very much doubting me.....

Thanks in advance if you have read this entire... Article?

Well, *QI → AI. My bad. Sorry if it was a worthless post

BTW, as a new user, my post will probably die.... But just explained what I could.. that's all.
