Show HN: Strava for Claude Code

https://straude.com/
15•ohong•2h ago
Just like how Strava made running more social & fun, Straude connects you to other motivated Claude Code builders so you can share your wins, encourage each other, and climb the token usage leaderboard!

This was my submission to the Built with Opus 4.6: a Claude Code hackathon: https://cerebralvalley.ai/e/claude-code-hackathon

First impression(s):

1/ it took me a while to understand this is a social network. I thought it was about giving me more visibility into my sessions/token usage

2/ Unless I am missing something it should be pretty easy to game the system.

3/ I think that landing the user on a global feed of all users will help

ohong•2h ago
thx for the great feedback!

great libraries already exist for usage tracking (like ccusage), think of this as just a social layer on top so you can follow other ppl's claude code sessions.

agree landing on global feed vs. "following" makes it more clear, will make that change now.

re: gaming the system, the cli tool pulls from local data usage data files to "verify". while this might be possible to spoof, it'd be a lot of work for not very much gain :)

You may need to be careful using "Strava" on your website as it's a trademarked name.

Cool idea though.

ohong•1h ago
thx! good point. i once heard the cto of supabase say that they didn't hit pmf until they added the copy "open-source firebase alternative" to their website copy & overall product positioning. that was when it finally clicked for devs.

that said, if we're so fortunate to get enough users for this become a problem, i won't hesitate to take it off :)

Gamifying Claude Code? Why? A leaderboard of who can blow the most tokens/money? Sure, but it's trivial to make number go up. Very likely that the tool itself is vulnerable to just submitting data yourself. I find this really, really weird.
maxverse•1h ago
Thank you for putting my feelings into words. "Really weird" is exactly how I feel. AI output in our work should be measured in engineering progress, not in use metrics, right?

I think it's a joke
InsideOutSanta•42m ago
I hope it's a joke, but I'm not as sure as I'd like to be.

sort of what happened when that cc tool that displays total token/costs was released.

people on reddit and discord started actively competing for who had the biggest numbers when really you could effectively 'win' by making the thing spit total gibberish.

i think of straude as serving a similar role as habit trackers and github's contribution graph. some of us have a goal to use claude code daily, like how others might run or play the piano daily. it can be encouraging to do it with friends' support, see your progress visualised, etc. diff strokes for diff folks!

>... and climb the token usage leaderboard!

Does the #1 spot confer some type of Mad Max-esque villain role?

Like you've contributed to the depletion of clean water so hard that you're put in charge of controlling the supply of Mother's Milk.

Ostensibly also given a custom desert rig with massively oversized tires, and a posse of devotees to ride with.
