This should have read as: physical jumpers.

For the past couple of years I’ve stopped taking seriously or even reading many of the tech sites that were once beacons of hardware journalism. Too much of the content now feels like AI-generated slop, published by mediocre writers without basic proofreading or an understanding of the subject matter, let alone a commitment to factual accuracy.

Sadly, errors like this will be fed back into future AI training data, further distorting facts and degrading the quality of information online.

Well, 30 years ago CPUs where so heavy and big, sometimes you'd need jumper cables to start them...
