I mean it's not just explicit puns, AFAIR there have been studies how when e.g. some natural disaster happen whole dictionary probabilities shift (and I mean when talking about something not related to the events).

It's fascinating because that's not just some slight shift, but also some specific patterns that are very unlikely to happen if say you were not ever exposed to HN, or never been to X etc. And most of them are unnoticeable for us.
